I’m Your Woman: What we know about the upcoming Rachel Brosnahan movie so far

Amazon Studios has teamed up with Rachel Brosnahan and Jordan Horowitz to bring I’m Your Woman. What do we know about the production so far?

You’ll know Rachel Brosnahan for her role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (and you may have known her first from The Blacklist or Netflix’s House of Cards) but she’s stepping out of the 1950s. She’s landed the lead in Jordan Horowitz’s I’m Your Woman, which is now an Amazon Studios movie.

Deadline shared the news about the team up, which is definitely highly exciting. However, just how much do we know about I’m Your Woman? Here are all the details so far.

Brosnahan is the lead

As you would expect from Mrs. Maisel, she’s taking the lead in the movie. Rachel Brosnahan will play Jean, a mother (Jean) who goes on the run with her child. No, she’s not abducted her child but she’s on the run because of her husband’s crimes.

We’ll likely see a very different character compared to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. After all, there is the running joke that Midge’s kids are never anywhere to be seen with her. She’s a career-focused and ambitious woman, so that’s not all that surprising.

She’ll play a mother devoted to the safety of her child in I’m Your Woman.

It’s more than just survival

Movies like this tend to be focused on the survival aspect. However, for Jean, it’s going to be more than just survival.

Along the way, she’ll meet a couple. This couple will teach her more than just how to survive on the run. The synopsis for the movie doesn’t go into that much detail to determine exactly what she’s going to learn. Plot twist, anyone?

Jordan Horowiz is producing

If you didn’t think Rachel Brosnahan was enough to boost this movie – you’ve probably not watched The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel then – there is someone else. Jordan Horowitz is producing the movie under his Original Headquarters banner.

This production company was founded by Horowitz and his wife, Julia Hart. He’s been involved in a number of projects over the years, including the Oscar-nominated movie La La Land.

Julia Hart is writing and will direct

I’ve mentioned Hart as one of the co-founders of Original Headquarters, but she deserves her own point for I’m Your Woman. She’s both writer and director for the movie.

She’s taken on both roles for Fast Color and she’s also the director for the Disney+ streaming service’s Stargirl. Seeing husband and wife team up again is definitely going to be exciting.

It’s an Amazon Studios production

Finally, it’s all about the studio that’s bringing the movie out. This is going to be an Amazon Studios movie, which is excellent for a number of reasons. The main one is that as a Prime member you’ll eventually get to watch it on your Prime Video account as part of your membership.

There have been some big movies come from Amazon Studios, including Beautiful Boy, Manchester By the Sea, and The Big Sick. We also can’t forget the upcoming Late Night and The Report after Amazon acquired them during the Sundance Film Festival.
