When will The Expanse Season 5 premiere on Amazon Prime Video
The Expanse Season 4 has certainly impressed and now we’re looking ahead to the confirmed fifth season. When will The Expanse Season 5 debut on Prime?
We’ve finally got the fourth season of The Expanse to binge-watch. Naturally, you’ll be close to the end of the season already. You know you took the day off work on Friday just to watch all 10 episodes, right? Now you want to know about The Expanse Season 5.
We know the fifth season is definitely happening. Amazon renewed the series back in the summer, all based on how successful the earlier seasons that aired on SYFY have been. Now we need to know when we’ll get more of the Rocinante crew.

It’s hard to say with this series. Usually, Amazon Originals take a year or so between seasons. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has been released at around 12-month intervals, while Jack Ryan was released with about 15 months in-between seasons. However, there are some odd exceptions, like the two years between the likes of Goliath and The Man in the High Castle for some seasons.
What also doesn’t help is The Expanse Season 4 took so long to get here in the first place. We’ve had to wait 18 months since Season 3 ended on SYFY. Granted, part of the wait came from Amazon making a deal to save the show and some of the licensing agreements, but it still skews the potential premiere date for the new season.
With the early renewal, there is some excellent news. It means production could start early on Season 5. With a show on this scale, extra time is necessary. There is a lot of work and a lot of graphics to go into it so the show looks realistic and high quality. The early renewal means that there’s less time between seasons needed to film.
Hopefully, we’ll get to see The Expanse Season 5 next December. This is a great time for streaming services because broadcast TV is heading out on a break. A lot of big shows are released at the end of the year partially for this reason. If not December, hopefully by February 2021. If the show needs the 18 months like between Seasons 3 and 4 then we’re looking at June 2021. I don’t think it will be that long!
