Absentia Season 2 is likely on everyone’s binge-watch list right now. With 10 episodes, it’s the perfect weekend binge now that it’s on Amazon Prime Video. However, there’s one question when you get to the end. Will Amazon renew the series for a third season?
When the Stana Katic drama was picked up for a second season, there was talk of a third. Previously, there were questions whether Amazon and Sony would renew for two seasons at the same time, allowing for filming to run back-to-back and shorten the wait time. However, only the second season was picked up.

Right now, there is no word on whether Absentia Season 3 will happen. Don’t expect Amazon Prime Video to renew right away. While Amazon has renewed ahead of seasons in the past, it’s done it with the shows that have already proven to be highly anticipated or a critical success, such as Jack Ryan, The Man in the High Castle, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Renewals ahead of a new season dropping haven’t happened for a while. This isn’t a bad thing for Absentia just yet. If the show is going to be renewed, we’ll likely find out within a month. The same applies if it’s definitely been canceled. However, there are still a few shows currently sitting in limbo, such as Forever and Lore, which shows that Amazon does hold out and possibly quietly cancel.
With any hope, the show will be renewed. There’s certainly a global fanbase for it. The downside is that it’s not just Amazon Prime’s decision. This is a show that airs on other networks around the world, so it will also be up to them!
