Amazon’s Jack Ryan has been renewed for a third season
Jack Ryan has been renewed for a third season before the second one lands on Amazon Prime Video.
Last year, Jack Ryan hit Amazon Prime Video and had a successful first season. I quickly made my way through the show and felt that it had a pretty good story to tell. While the second season is still in the works, we learned at the TCAs that there will be a third season.
It isn’t uncommon for shows to be renewed for another season before the preceding one even airs. In fact, some shows get renewed for multiple seasons at a time. It’s happened with huge network shows like The Big Bang Theory (although, that show is coming to an end soon) and with smaller shows like Outlander on STARZ.

Amazon has a habit of renewing shows ahead of premieres. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was renewed for a third season ahead of its second season airing and Bosch was recently renewed for Season 6 despite the fifth season not dropping yet. Jack Ryan was even picked up for a second season before the first season aired.
I am glad that we’ll get to see more of Jack Ryan in action. I’ve managed to collect all of the Jack Ryan books from Tom Clancy, despite the fact that I have yet to read a single one. Maybe that will happen before the second season comes around.

As far as the third season goes, Deadline reported the news and mentioned that Jennifer Salke, the head of Amazon Studios, is satisfied with what’s come from the show so far. The second season will be eight episodes and Dennie Gordon will direct and act as executive producer on three of them.
John Krasinski remains involved in the show as both the lead and one of the executive producers. He’s been doing some interesting work lately, so I look forward to what comes next with the show.
