The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: Why didn’t Susie tell Midge about Sophie Lennon?
At the end of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Susie got a major offer. She chose not to break the news to Midge, but why?
In The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 2, Sophie Lennon reappeared. It was clear this was going to happen. That storyline hadn’t finished and the season started with Susie being threatened by some of Harry’s goons. In the end, the threats were called off.
Susie had one of the greatest offers, to become Sophie’s manager. By the looks of things, Susie said yet. It makes sense from a career point of view. As much as she may not like Sophie, this is a chance to manage one of the greats of New York. Susie would be ridiculous to say no.

But by the end of the finale, Susie hadn’t told Midge. She wanted to, but she couldn’t quite do it. Why would she leave such news out of the conversation?
There’s one simple answer: loyalty.
By becoming Sophie Lennon’s manager, Susie has, in a way, been disloyal to Midge. Without Midge, there would be no Susie and vice versa. The two have helped each other grow. Both ended up with Sophie as an enemy and now it looks like Susie is getting in bed with that enemy. It’s going to be one of the worst things Susie could do to Midge.
Susie has seen how Midge reacts when people are disloyal or have done something she doesn’t like. Plus, the two are friends now. When Susie was in trouble, Midge offered her a place to crash. The two are more than just manager and client and Susie won’t want to lose that relationship.
But that’s going to happen the minute Midge learns the truth.
Of course, this is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. While it’s a comedy, there’s a drama aspect and that means this news is going to come out at some point in the third season. It would be better coming from Susie, but is that how Midge is actually going to learn the truth?
We can only wait to find out. For now, “put that on your plate.”
