Alex Rider Season 1, Episode 4 recap: Alex’s first day
Everything that happened in Alex Rider Season 1, Episode 4
While Alex experiences his first day at Point Blanc, the Department of Special Operations gets proof Martin betrayed Ian. Here’s our breakdown of everything that happened on Alex Rider Season 1, Episode 4.
Alex’s time at Point Blanc probably isn’t what he expected. He has to give over his phone (but gets to keep the encrypted MP3) and has to wear a comfortable-looking uniform. He also finds out there are only five other students in the school. It’s all about quality, not quantity.
Meanwhile, Martin has to cover his tracks as he realizes the DSO is on to him. He’ll be taken out of the picture soon.
Alex starts out at Point Blanc
For the whole of the episode, Alex is at Point Blanc as Alex Friend. There’s a moment when he blows his cover around Kyra, but he recovers quickly by plugging in his MP3 and blasting music while they eat dinner.

There’s a lot for Alex to take in, though. The school is underground mostly, which means he can’t get in touch with anyone back at the DSO through his encrypted MP3 player. There’s also something strange about two of the students who are fully in sync with each other. They seem just as creepy as Parker Roscoe at the start of the series premiere.
As Alex learns a little more about the school, one of the creepy kids comes onto him. She tells him he should have kissed him when he had the chance. That doesn’t mean she’s over him. The end of the episode sees him collapse while he’s brushing his teeth and people in hazmat suits come in to take him away.
Has someone figured out the truth?
The Department of Secret Operations gets the truth
In the previous episode, it was clear the Department of Special Operations didn’t trust Martin. Either he knew all about Point Blanc or he was telling the truth, but nobody believed him. So they made him think that they believed the story that North Korea was responsible for Ian Rider’s murder.
Martin fed that information to his contact, believing it all to be over. Oh, this naive spy.
Martin realizes that he may have been fed a lie so he turns up at the Rider house. Jack wants to know where Alex is and if Alex is okay. She mentions a school and Martin realizes that the DSO knows everything. He’s in trouble, and he needs to find a way out.
As that happens, Mrs. Jones calls Jack to tell Jack not to mention Alex to Martin. Too late for that. Mrs. Jones sends someone on Martin’s tail. It’s too late, though. Martin is killed by his connection, who knows that Martin is now a liability. The DSO will need to retrace Martin’s steps to figure out the truth.
Like with not dragging out the big reveal to Jack and Tom, I’m really glad the show didn’t drag out this big reveal. Spies aren’t stupid, so I’m glad they worked out Martin’s involvement right away.
