The Boys Season 3: Soldier Boy’s story will be different from the graphic novels
Get ready for a new Soldier Boy on The Boys Season 3
The Boys Season 2 finale airs tonight, but we’re already looking at things to come in The Boys Season 3. We know Jensen Ackles is taking on the role of Soldier Boy, and it turns out he’ll be a series regular.
That means we should get a lot of the original Supe. On top of that, we now know that the backstory will be different to that written in the graphic novels.

The Illuminerdi reports that Soldier Boy isn’t going to be multiple people as in the graphic novels. In the source material, the original Soldier Boy died in World War II, and the mantel has been passed on a little like Captain America in the Marvel Comics. It makes sense since Soldier Boy is a parody of Captain America.
The Boys Season 3’s Soldier Boy faked his death
Instead, Soldier Boy is the original Vought Supe (not including Stormfront, we’re guessing) and helped the Allies win the war in 1945. Does that mean he will be against everything Stormfront stands for? Possibly, but these are Supes and we can never trust them.
What we do know is Soldier Boy retired out of the game sort of. He moved onto living a life of luxury in Hollywood, and then “died” while on a mission. It turns out he’s not really dead, but the people have mourned him and let him become a legacy.
So, how and why will he return? We’ll have to see how The Boys Season 3 ends, but with The Seven’s lineup changing so much, it’s possible that he’ll return to fill some shoes. Maybe he’ll come in as another Supe but we’ll all know him as Soldier Boy (a little like Liberty becoming Stormfront), and eventually, the truth comes out.
There’s a lot the show can do. Hopefully, the storyline isn’t cut short like Lamplighter and we do get a season-long arc a little like Stormfront’s story.
