Utopia Season 1 was certainly a wild ride. So far, Utopia Season 2 hasn’t been confirmed. If it does happen, when can we expect it to stream on Amazon Prime Video?
There are a lot of factors in the release of the second season right now. The first is when Amazon Prime Video decides to renew it. The majority of renewals happen within two months of the release, although if the show has had enough viewers, it can take seven to 10 days to renew.

The sooner the renewal is, the better is it for the timeline. Writers can get straight to work, reducing the time needed to get scripts ready to then film them. Pre-production work can happen earlier so that production takes less time to start.
With an early enough renewal, it is possible to get a season within 12 to 14 months. However, most shows will take 14 to 18 months for a new season to drop on Amazon Prime Video.

There could be a delay in filming even with an early renewal
Something to keep in mind is the current pandemic. Utopia Season 2 could be renewed next week but that doesn’t mean filming can start right away. And it’s not just about writing.
The show will need to get the green light to film from the production studio and the unions. The pandemic has caused a big issue in filming, as extra restrictions and protocols are needed to keep everyone safe.
This could push the release to 18 to 24 months. The time is needed to film, so we could be looking at September 2022 depending on when filming gets started. My rule is to expect the longest time frame. That way, a shorter time frame is a pleasant surprise.
With hope, Utopia Season 2 will be confirmed soon. We certainly need it with the way the first season ended!
