Get to know the cast and creators of Alex Rider in the PaleyFest Fall TV Previews

There’s no doubt that we’re all getting ready for fall TV. It’s coming later than normal, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to disappoint. One of the shows heading our way is Alex Rider.

Based on the books, the series is set to debut on IMDb TV in November. That’s the free service owned by Amazon, and all eight episodes will drop at once.

It’s certainly an exciting series for fans of the book series. The show’s cast and creators will tease what to expect in the PaleyFest Fall TV Previews.

Adapting Alex Rider from book to show

We were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the PaleyFest Fall TV Previews, so we can tease some of the things discussed during the panel. You’ll be able to watch the panel from 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT over at Yahoo! Entertainment, where all the PaleyFest panels will be available, including Truth Seekers.

More from Amazon Originals

Damian Holbrook from TV Guide Magazine moderates the panel, and he is clearly invested in this show. He starts off by saying that he’s screened the first five episodes of the series, and he did it almost in one sitting. It gives us a hint that this is a show packed with thrilling scenes, exciting fights, and excellent character development.

Holbrook talks to Anthony Horowitz, author of the book series and executive producer on the show, executive producers Jill Green and Eve Gutierrez, and executive producer and writer Guy Burt. Cast members Otto Farrant, Brenock O’Connor, Ronkẹ Adékoluẹjo, and Marli Siu also join the panel.

There are teases of what’s included from the book and what’s been created just for the series. With Horowitz included, it’s certainly got his stamp of approval. He can’t speak highly enough of it, settling worries for long-time fans of the book series.

We also get to hear about the casting process, including how the three main actors were chosen. It turns out that the casting process was a lot like X Factor auditions, but the three main actors gelled instantly.

Something that’s interesting is that Stormbreaker isn’t the book used for the first season. Horowitz goes into why that was and shares an interesting tidbit about his writing process of the book series.

Breaking down the characters

The cast members get a chance to talk about their characters, teasing some of the things to expect. One of the characters has been written specifically for the series, offering another look at the spy world. This was important for Burt, who wanted to add more women into the series, and it does come with blessings from Horowitz.

There’s also a character from the books that gets a bigger role in the TV series. And it sounds like this was to ground the show a little better, adding heart into what could have been just an action series.

With these characters, there will be something for those who have never read the books. There’s going to be plenty of intrigue for all.
