Will Amazon renew Homecoming for a third season?

Our eyes are currently on the future of Homecoming. Is there a chance that Amazon will renew the series for a third season?

While we’d love to see more of this well-written show, there are some fears that it will be canceled. Amazon, like Netflix, is getting into a habit of canceling shows after two or three seasons. In fact, some are lucky to get past the first season! In recent years for Amazon, we just have to look at how The Tick and Sneaky Pete were canceled before they should have been.

So, that puts the future of Homecoming on shaky ground. It means our eyes are locked on Amazon’s decisions.

Is there a story for Homecoming Season 3?

Part of the considerations for a future season is whether there’s even a storyline there. One of the benefits of the series is the anthology-like set-up. There are elements that crossover the first two seasons, but the second season gave us a new mystery to solve. It gave us a new set of characters to get to know.

With this in mind, there are no concerns if other actors don’t want to return to the series. The writers could easily set up another storyline and another group of characters.

But how often can the same storyline work? How often can we have a new identity to unravel? Eventually, the show needs to go further than that.

Stephan James did remain as part of the second season, giving him a chance to get revenge. However, that story is now done. Is there really anything more to explore? The show would need to find something else to explore for a third season, but is there anything compelling to the audience?

I’m sure the writers could find something. Or they could give us a different part of the center to delve into. Maybe they could delve fully into how this center was started and why. However, it does make me question whether a third season of the thriller is even necessary.
