While the ratings are poor for the movie, it is still worthy of watching. The biggest reason it belongs on this list is that Kristen Stewart shows off her acting skills brilliantly. This is a movie that gives her the chance to shine, as she shows the slowly declining mental health of Jean Seberg.
In the 1960s, Seberg was an icon. However, her position as an icon and being part of the Civil Rights movement led to her being a threat to the country. The FBI decided to tap her phones and spy on her to find out what she was doing and who she was meeting. Of course, phone tapping then was certainly not a secret and it was possible to hear it through the devices, so Seberg knew that she was being listened to.
While the movie does only just scratch the surface, it’s an excellent start into the insight of Jean Seberg’s mental decline. It’s a chance to learn a little more about the steps the FBI was willing to take to prevent the Civil Rights movement, and how women like Seberg were important to change the world.
