The Kids in the Hall revival on Amazon: Everything we know so far
The Kids in the Hall revival is coming to Amazon Prime and it will include all original cast members. Here’s what we know about it so far.
The Kids in the Hall is making a comeback and heading to Amazon Prime Video, and this isn’t some odd 90210-like revival or a Friends one-off special. Nor is this going to be a way to capitalize on a popular show or movie franchise. The revival is going to include all original cast members and is coming back because they want th bring the original magic back.
Of course, while fans of the 1988-1995 series love hearing the news, there are a lot of questions about what the revival will include. While we know all original The Kids in the Hall members are back, what about other elements that made the show special?

There isn’t too much known, but there’s enough to make us extremely excited. Here’s everything we know so far, thanks to TVLine.
Lorne Michaels returning as EP
It’s great to know that Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Scott Thompson, Bruce McCulloch, and Mark McKinney will all return, but there’s more than the five actors that made this sketch comedy series special. Lorne Michaels was the one who helped run the show. While Michaels has moved onto Saturday Night Live, he still holds The Kids in the Hall dear to his heart and he is returning as EP for the revival.
There will also be some old fan-favorite characters who will make a return. At the same time, the show will bring some new characters and creations to the hall.
When will the show premiere?
Right now, there’s no release date set. All we know is that it will be available on Amazon Prime Video. It’s not clear whether this will be released as a normal Amazon Original (so with all episodes dropping at once) or as a weekly release.
Amazon has tested both methods of release. The weekly releases have been hit and miss. While The Grand Tour was widely followed, The Romanoffs didn’t work. Amazon is going to test it again with Making the Cut, so we’ll see if it’s worth the risk for The Kids in the Hall.
It’s also not clear when the show will be released. No date has been set. It’s only just been picked up, so will need episodes written and everything still needs to be filmed. I wouldn’t imagine a release before 2022.
Eight episodes to the season
We do know that there will be eight episodes. This is roughly standard for Amazon Originals (most are between eight and 10 episodes), so that’s nothing to worry about.
Will there only be one season of The Kids in the Hall revival? That’s all that seems planned for now, but it’s not clear just yet. There may just be the initial plans for one season to see how the show is accepted by Amazon Prime viewers.
