Making the Cut trailer: Fashion’s version of American Idol

Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn are back on our screens. Making the Cut is heading to Amazon in March, and we get our first look with the promo trailer.

When we heard that Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn were stepping away from Project Runaway for an Amazon Original series, we were excited. Now we get to see the first look at Making the Cut, heading to Prime in March 2020.

The trailer makes it clear that this is a competition series. Think of it like American Idol but for fashion.

A group of fashion designers will come together for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get their clothes out there. They’ll snip and sew their way to the No. 1 spot, showing off their designs and allowing them to be judged by some of the biggest known faces in fashion across the globe.

From the looks of the promo, Klum and Gunn aren’t there to judge. Instead, they’re there to offer support and guidance to these 12 designers from around the world. There are certainly going to be some fashion faux pas along the way, and we can expect both our hosts to be honest but kind at the same time.

The promo also shares a little about what to expect after each episode. We’re getting them weekly on the streaming service, and at the end of each week, the winner’s designs will be available in the Making the Cut store. This store is going to be exclusive to Amazon, so you’ll want to get that Prime membership fully ready to buy your favorites.

During the promo, you’ll get to meet the 12 contestants. They all share what this means to them and what they’re putting on hold and risking by being part of the competition. If you loved Project Runway, there’s no doubt that you’ll want to check out Making the Cut.
