The Vast of Night is coming to theaters in May 2020
After teasing everyone with the promo trailer for The Vast of Night, Amazon has now set a release date for the movie in theaters. Look out for May!
Earlier this month, Amazon dropped the first trailer for the upcoming movie The Vast of Night. It gave us an exciting tease of what to expect in the 1950s-set mystery thriller. Now we finally know when it will be released in theaters.
The official release date is set for May 29. It’s not clear if this is going to be a limited or nationwide release just yet. It sounds like the movie is getting a similar treatment as Late Night and Brittany Runs a Marathon.

Right now, there isn’t an Amazon Prime Video release date. We know that the movie will eventually head to the streaming platform, but we were all curious as to how Amazon was going to handle this. Based on the news that the movie will be released in theaters in May, it looks like we’ll see a 90-day theatrical release before eventually moving to Prime Video.
Again, this is very similar to Late Night and Brittany Runs a Marathon. They both got traditional theatrical releases in 2019, before moving to the streaming platform months later.
However, Amazon has been changing up its releases. The Report and The Aeronauts both got reduced and limited theatrical releases. They were in theaters exclusively for two weeks before heading to the streaming platform for a worldwide release. We did wonder if that would be the case for The Vast of Night.
The otherworldly mystery stars Sierra McCormick and Jake Horowitz as two friends in a new Mexico town in the 1950s. One night, they experience a strange audio frequency that could suggest there’s something alien out there. As they investigate the noise, they soon find out information that could change their town forever.
You’ll certainly get a sense of the thrilling mystery from the promo. Already released at the Toronto International Film Festival, critics praise the movie with it gaining an 88% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
