Jack Ryan Season 3 gets yet another showrunner change
Jack Ryan Season 3 is struggling to hold onto its showrunners. Paul Scheuring has exited the series with a new showrunner taking over.
You’ll be forgiven if you’re worried about the fate of Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime Video. While we got a third season very early on, there have been a few problems behind the scenes. The biggest issue is keeping a showrunner for Jack Ryan Season 3.
Previously, Carlton Cuse (who had been the showrunner for the first two seasons) and David Scarpa had stepped away from the project. Now, Deadline reports that their replacement, Paul Scheuring, is stepping away from showrunner duties. His No. 2, Vaun Wilmott, is taking over the day-to-day running of the show.

Despite having a successful show like Prison Break, Scheuring has never really been the type of guy to be in the trenches of a show. He’s created excellent TV and writes brilliant episodes, but he leaves the day-to-day work to others.
However, he stepped into the role for Jack Ryan Season 3 to see if he could make it work. Just months after taking on the job, he’s decided that it’s not for him. Wilmott will take over immediately.
Since Wilmott was second-in-command behind the scenes, there probably won’t be much of a changeover. Wilmott will know the initial plan and will run with the course, possibly making smaller changes along the way to make his mark.
Wilmott also comes with plenty of EP experience. He was and EP on Prison Break and a co-EP on Star Trek: Discovery. He also created Dominion on SYFY, as well as executive producing the series. Considering he’s worked well with Scheuring in the past, there was likely the belief that the series was being left in the right hands.
There are no details about production being put on hold. It’s like this won’t need to happen at this stage.
