Kristen Stewart leads the cast of the tense creature feature, Underwater. Will you be able to stream it on Amazon Prime Video?
Underwater is the second new horror film of the new year and let’s hope it fares better than The Grudge. The new movie follows a group of underwater researchers who find themselves in quite the predicament after an earthquake damages their lab and leaves them vulnerable to creatures from the deep.
Kristen Stewart, T.J. Miller, Jessica Henwick, Vincent Cassel, John Gallagher Jr., and Mamoudou Athie. Currently, the movie is sitting at mixed reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and an overall “rotten” approval score, although the cast and stylish direction were praised.

Fans willing to wait and watch the movie when it’s free instead of trekking out to the cinema may be stuck waiting for a while. Those with Amazon Prime subscriptions might be out of luck altogether. Underwater is a 20th Century Fox production and typically their movies go to HBO.
However, now that Disney has acquired Fox, it’s possible their future products will move to Disney Plus or Hulu. Since Underwater is a horror film, it’s not likely it will stream on the family-friendly Disney Plus, but Disney also owns Hulu and adult content is heading there.
None of 20th Century Fox’s 2019 movies have moved to streaming services aside from The Kid Who Would Be King. It’s unclear if Fox’s properties are at a standstill until Disney decides where to put them. For now, anticipate the movie migrating to HBO. The good news is, you can get an HBO subscription through Amazon Video Channels.
It will be a while before the film becomes available. The Kid Who Would Be King didn’t arrive on HBO until November, 10 months after its theatrical debut. The earliest we can expect Underwater on HBO is November 2020. Underwater will be on DVD and Blu-ray much sooner.
