The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has been renewed for a fourth season. That means there should be more focus on Susie’s gambling problem.

With the renewal of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for a fourth season, we have more time to explore the characters. One of those characters is Susie, who developed a gambling addiction during the third season. It was so bad that she gambled away Midge’s money. Will we see more of the fallout from this during the fourth season?

Everything has come crashing down for Susie. She didn’t just lose her own money, but Midge’s money too. As she realized the problem she was in, she turned to Joel for some help—getting him to look after Midge’s money in the future. At least she has been able to look at a potential disaster in the future, but there’s more to come from this fallout.

Susie was going to get Midge’s money back. That’s clearly meant to be from the insurance money from her mother’s house, which she and her sister burned to the ground. Hopefully, this doesn’t come back to haunt Susie since insurance companies certainly like to avoid paying out where possible. With any luck, the money is paid out and Susie clears off the debt to Midge.

The next issue will be admitting that she has a problem. She knows she does deep down, but she’s not willing to talk to anybody yet. At one point, it looked like she could have turned to Reggie for some advice. There was a chance for some sort of friendship to form between them, but now Midge is off the tour, that isn’t possible.

The next possibility would have been Jackie. That’s not going to be an option due to Brian Tarantina’s untimely passing. We’ll likely learn that Jackie has passed away during The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4, which removes the growing bond that happened between the two. And I will admit that it was heartbreaking to watch Brian’s performance in the series knowing that he passed away shortly after filming, but I fully expect Brian to be honored in the series.

So, who is left? Susie likely won’t turn to Midge right away. Midge is her client, so she can’t keep blurring the lines. How about Joel? That would mean admitting she’s got a flaw to a man she despises. However, Joel would be the perfect person since he could be in a position to help.

I do get the feeling the underground gambling room is going to become part of the show more. Will Susie learn that it’s there and try to win money back? Will she continue to gamble away her money, and could it be Joel who learns the truth? Maybe he will learn the truth when the Chinese Mafia (you know the Triad is going to come into this somehow and is connected to Mai, right?) comes after Susie.

It’s all going to get worse before it gets better. Susie may have admitted to herself there’s a problem, but that’s it. She’s not admitting to anyone else, and she’s not yet seeking help for her addition. That’s all likely to come in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4.
