Amazon took to the stage for its summer TCAs and announced five cancellations. Some of them are going to hurt more than others.

Five shows are getting the ax on Amazon Prime Video. During the summer TCAs, Amazon announced the decision to end three shows after just one season and two shows after two. Which one is going to hurt the most?

First, let’s look at the cancellations. Out of the freshman shows, The Romanoffs, Too Old to Die Young, and Forever have been handed the pink slip. Personally, I find Forever the most disappointing because there was a beauty to this series. I think it suffered mainly because fans didn’t really get an idea of what to expect.

In fact, I struggled the first time watching the series. It wasn’t anything that I thought it would be based on the premise shared. However, a second viewing brought out some intricate details and meanings to life.

The Romanoffs will be the biggest upset behind the scenes. The Mad Men-like production had a huge budget but failed to walk away with any Emmys. It didn’t help that it wasn’t well-liked by the critics and, it seems, the audience wasn’t on board either. I watched two episodes and gave up with the series, if I’m honest.

Part of the problem would have been the weekly installments. Amazon Prime Video viewers are used to full-season drops so they can binge-watch.

As for the shows axed after two seasons, it’s all about the horror anthology Lore and the dramedy Patriot. I’ll be upfront and say I haven’t watched Patriot yet, but Lore is going to hurt. Based on the podcast of the same name, the series saw a huge change in the second season and I do think that hurt the series a lot.

Personally, there were some Season 2 episodes I adored, but there were others that just didn’t feel Lore-like. The first season was stronger. At least we still have the podcast with Aaron Mahnke.
