Amazon has ordered a series based on the international bestseller, The Banker’s Wife. It will be created by the executive producers behind Homeland.

From Amazon’s summer TCA panel, Variety reports that the streaming platform has decided to order Cristina Alger’s internationally bestselling novel, The Banker’s Wife, to series. Two of the executive producers from Showtime’s acclaimed series, Homeland, will create the show.

Variety describes The Banker’s Wife series as set in the world of global finance. It will follow two women in the aftermath of a strange plane crash that sets them off on a pursuit of the truth. As far as the two Homeland executive producers involved, Meredith Stiehm will write all eight episodes of the new show while Lesli Linka Glatter will most likely be directing. Although it is not yet confirmed whether or not Glatter will direct all eight installments.

Amazon’s head of the studio, Jennifer Salke said, “As soon as we read The Banker’s Wife we knew this would be a series that our Amazon Prime Video customers will love, a fast-paced compelling story that pulls you in immediately.”

Alger recently released another taut thriller titled Girls Like Us. Amazon could potentially begin plans to adapt this series too if The Banker’s Wife is successful.

As of right now, it appears the story is mostly aligned with the book’s synopsis. It will be interesting to see how this show will play out over the course of eight hours. In terms of the executive producer choice, Homeland alumnus is a perfect fit for the show.
