New Amsterdam’s first season arrives on DVD in August 2019

Everyone’s favorite new medical drama, New Amsterdam, is bringing its first season to DVD in August 2019. Find out about the extras here!

Last fall, NBC premiered a new medical drama in the vein of This Is Us and it became an instant success for the network. New Amsterdam loosely adapts Eric Manheimer’s books, Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital and focuses on Doctor Max Goodwin’s journey to becoming the medical director of one of the oldest public hospitals in America.

The series stars Ryan Eggold in the leading role of Max Goodwin in addition to Janet Montgomery, Freema Agyeman, Jocko Sims, Tyler Labine, and Anupam Kher.

Max’s journey becomes even more difficult when he discovers he has throat cancer. The first season deals with Max’s ongoing struggle to manage his disease while also trying to restore the hospital to its former glory and jumping through all the bureaucratic hoops necessary to do just that.

On Aug. 13, 2019, you’ll be able to own the first season on DVD. It is currently available to pre-order on Amazon. It is unlikely the price will change between now and then but if you pre-order the DVD now you’ll be guaranteed to get the lowest price by the time of shipment.

As of right now, the DVD is priced at $24.99. No word yet on whether NBC will decide to release the series on Blu-ray. It is also available to purchase digitally through Amazon Video.

Good news for fans of the show, the DVD will include deleted scenes from the season! NBC has also renewed the show for a second season which will premiere Sept. 24, 2019.
