TV Time has released the top anticipated TV shows for July 2019. Amazon Prime is on the list, as The Boys debuts to the world next month.

If you haven’t heard of The Boys yet, you must have been living under a rock — or somewhere without WIFI — for the last year or so. This is one of the most highly anticipated TV shows of this year, and we don’t just think that because we’re Amazon fans. The world is looking forward to it.

Every month, TV Time — an excellent site for tracking your own TV viewing — shares a list of the most anticipated TV shows (both new and returning) for the upcoming month. It wasn’t surprising that back in April, Good Omens was on the list for the May releases and now Amazon gets another show on the list.

The Boys is the most anticipated new TV show coming in July. That’s not all that surprising for a few reasons. The first is for the Supernatural and Timeless fans, who will get to see Eric Kripke work on something dark, gritty, and adult. There’s going to be plenty of swearing, drugs, and alcohol.

This is also based on a popular graphic novel series of the same name. It’s a darker world of superheroes, showing what they’d probably be like once they gained celebrity status. Do you really think superheroes would only save the world? C’mon, you’ve seen what people are like when they become celebrities! Not everyone, but enough!

The Boys isn’t going to shy away from the questionable actions of the superheroes (or Supes as they’re called). However, there’s someone who wants to keep them in check. Get ready for the group of seven vigilantes known as “The Boys,” although there is The Female in the group.

Epix’s Pennyworth is also one of the highly anticipated TV shows. Considering it’s a look at Alfred before he became Bruce Wayne’s guardian, it’s not surprising that fans of Batman are ready for this show. It sits in fifth place of new shows with Dr. Stone, Pearson, and Fire Force sandwiched between.

Unsurprisingly, Netflix takes the majority of the spots on the returning shows. After all, there are Stranger Things, Money Heist, and Orange Is the New Black returning. Veronica Mars on Hulu and Suits take up fourth and fifth place.
