For many, the fact that Elba is the director behind the movie will be enough to check it out. However, if you need a little more convincing, then you’ll want to check it out purely for the story. Yardie is based on the 1992 novel of the same name by Victor Headley, telling the story of a young man from Jamaica who moves to London, England to reconnect with his former girlfriend and daughter — a daughter he hasn’t seen since she was a baby.
However, there’s something playing on D’s mind. When he was younger, he witnessed the murder of his brother but the killers got away. Now in London, D comes across the man who killed his brother and he has to decide whether to go back to the life of crime to get his revenge or walk the straight and narrow path of goodness.
