Before Poldark Season 5 can come to Amazon Prime Video, it needs to air on PBS Masterpiece. When will the fifth season premiere?

Poldark Season 5 is officially happening. It’s great news but what we don’t have a release date. Before it can stream on Amazon Prime Video, it needs to air on PBS Masterpiece. So, what sort of time frame are we looking for?

There is some good news. The fifth season has finished filming. That means the show is in post-production, which should be over soon.

If the show continues in the same direction as previous seasons, we shouldn’t be waiting too long. Poldark Season 4 premiered on June 10, 2018 and Season 3 premiered on June 11, 2017 on BBC One in the UK. They then came to PBS in late September and early October of their respective years. So, we’re probably looking at September 2019 for the fifth season on PBS Masterpiece, with a June release in the UK.

What’s in store for the characters in the fifth season? This is likely to be the last, and there are some reports that the show will focus on the time between Books 7 and 8, making it more original than the previous seasons.

This idea isn’t all that surprising. The last five books in the Poldark series are based mostly on the children of the main characters. Fans of Aidan Turner as Ross Poldark won’t want to see him being recast or have a show focused on the children as much – we just have to look at how Outlander fans are struggling with the fourth season now that the show has moved on from just about Claire and Jamie to about the whole Fraser family!

Will there be a continuation show for the last five books in the novel series with the children recast? That’s a possibility in the future but not on the cards right now. However, we’re getting ahead of ourselves, right?
