3. United States of Tara
United States of Tara is one of my favorite shows us on this whole list and easily the most underrated one. Ever wanted to see what Brie Larson was doing before she took up the Captain Marvel mantle? Then watch this show! It stars Toni Collette as Tara Gregson, a woman struggling to raise her family while dealing with a dissociative identity disorder.

When Tara gets stressed out or overwhelmed by her life, she transitions into one of her alters. Three initial personalities are introduced at the beginning of the show, a flirty and reckless teenager named T, Alice, an old-fashion housewife, and Buck, a loud-mouthed, beer-drinking, Vietnam vet. Throughout the show, Tara does develop other alters but I won’t spoil them for you.
Larson plays Tara’s daughter, Kate and serves as a great reminder of just how good at comedy she is. Filling out the cast is John Corbett as Tara’s husband, Max, Rosemarie DeWitt as her sister, Charmaine, and Keir Gilchrist as Tara and Max’s son.
The best part about United States of Tara is that it’s a quick and easy binge. With only three short seasons and an episode run time of 30 minutes, you could watch the whole thing in under a week!
