Based on the adult comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson and developed by Supernatural’s Eric Kripke, along with Seth Rogan, Evan Goldberg, and so many more high-profile directors and producers, this is a series that is perfect for those who want something new and different in the superhero world. It’s far more adult and, in this one, you won’t like the superheroes you meet.
If you were honest with yourself, would all the superheroes in the comic books be the good guys? Sure, great power brings great responsibility but how many would end up like the old-school celebrities, those who were more focused on money and fame than anything else? That’s what The Boys focuses on.
Funnily enough, the title isn’t about the group of superheroes, known as The Seven. While they will certainly make a mark – and the trailer does show Homelander, Starlight, Queen Maeve, A-Train, The Deep, and Black Noir is action – the title is about the group of vigilantes who want to curb the superheroes and stop them from acting in their celebrity way.
The Boys is made up of Hughie, Billy Butcher, Mother’s Milk, Frenchie, and The Female. They have no powers of their own, but they do kick butt.
This Prime Original stars Karl Urban, Karen Fukuhara, Laz Alonso, Antony Starr, Chace Crawford, and Erin Moriarty, among other exciting cast members. Simeon Pegg guest stars as Hughie’s father. It’s certainly not a series you’ll want to skip.
