The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel stars get pay increases moving forward

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3 has been confirmed since last year and now the stars are getting a pay increase. It’s certainly well deserved.

Despite The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3 being confirmed last year and production already started on it, the main stars of the series have only just finalized their pay increases. Rachel Brosnahan and Tony Shalhoub have locked theirs in and Alex Borstein is close to finalizing hers.

Brosnahan, who was one of the least known stars when the series began, very quickly became a household name. It’s not surprising to hear that she had one of the lowest pays on the show (due to her less-known status) but has managed to negotiate the highest increase, and now the highest pay on set. Her income per episode has tripled to $300,000, according to Deadline.

Shalhoub and Borstein were among the most recognizable faces on the series, so naturally had slightly higher pay. They’re both landing pay increases, but not as much as the lead star of the show — and arguably, the one who has helped push The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel to the top considering her Golden Globe and Emmy wins.

Shalhoub has locked in an increase to $250,000 per episode. Borstein is expected to gain about the same, which makes sense considering the two have similar amounts of time on screen and are both the main supports for Brosnahan. That could change in Season 3, as Borstein’s Susie will go on the road with Midge and Shaloub’s Abe will gain a storyline of his own.

Actors in successful shows tend to get pay increases after the first two seasons in primetime networks. It’s not surprising that the shows on Amazon are following that route. This just indicates how The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is viewed by Amazon Studios and there’s likely plenty more to come.

The next pay increase will likely be around the fifth season. If the pay increase doesn’t happen, we may see some of the bigger names gain producer credits in the way that the Outlander stars have recently landed that title.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3 was confirmed in May, ahead of its second season December release. We may get a fourth season renewal sometime in May this year. All eyes are on whether this will happen.
