Torchwood’s Burn Gorman has joined the cast of The Expanse Season 4. What do we know about his character so far?

The Expanse Season 4 has just landed Burn Gorman and he’s even got a character name. What do we know so far and why should we be excited?

You’ll certainly recognize the face, especially if you’re a sci-fi series fan. Gorman starred in the first two seasons of Torchwood, the Doctor Who spin-off with John Barrowman. He has also been in the likes of Game of ThronesJamestownPacific Rim, and much more.

The news broke on Feb. 7, just a day before the third season of The Expanse dropped on Amazon Prime Video (and all three seasons were made available internationally). While there’s no date for the fourth season yet, casting is always welcome news. Just what do we already know?

Gorman will play Adolphus Murtry and is credited for 10 episodes, according to his IMDb. Unlike the second and third seasons, The Expanse Season 4 is set to only be 10 episodes. This would match the length of the first season and fits with the lengths of many other Amazon Prime Originals.

Murtry is a key character in the book series that The Expanse is based on. The Chief of Security for Royal Charter Energy, he can be rash and brutal in his actions. After an ambush that claims the lives of five of his security team, he gets the rest to Ilus and immediately assumes command. This isn’t going to be a character you’ll like if the show decides to stick closely with the book storyline.

While announcing his casting in a new video on Twitter, Gorman shared that production on The Expanse Season 4 wraps this week. That could mean we’ll see the season available on Prime Video sooner rather than later. That will be a treat!
