Will Amazon save Midnight, Texas?
Midnight, Texas has become the latest casualty at NBC. Will Amazon save the series? Is this a show that should be saved?
NBC has canceled Midnight, Texas after two seasons. The news comes ahead of the season finale next week, which will now act as a series finale. You can bet your bottom dollar that the fans are upset and outraged and now looking for somewhere to save the show. Could Amazon be the place? Should Amazon save Midnight, Texas?
The fans aren’t the only ones looking for a new home. According to TV Line, the showrunners and producers are looking at shopping the series elsewhere. This is a sign that the Season 2 finale will leave fans on a cliffhanger and there are still more stories to tell.

Why did NBC cancel the series in the first place? The ratings are likely the problem but NBC has done very little to help the show’s ratings remain steady between seasons. When Midnight, Texas first hit airways, it was a summer show in 2017 and it became the number one broadcast show in the summer for the 18-49-year-olds.
Proving to be a stable show for the summer months, the renewal should have been just around the corner. The network didn’t announce a renewal until months after the 10-episode first season ended, and that meant the second season was pushed to the fall. This is a competitive time for TV when ratings need to be high, and the second season just couldn’t compete.
However, there is a passionate fanbase and despite lower ratings, they were steady. People who tune in for the first episode want to see the rest and that makes it an excellent binge-worthy show. It’s perfect for a streaming service like Amazon Prime Video.
Amazon will want to know a show is worthwhile before saving it. The lower live ratings won’t be a concern. It depends on the number of people watching later since Amazon is set up to allow people to stream when they want. The consistent ratings throughout the season will be a good sign.
Fans can currently buy the series through Amazon. This could help encourage the company to pick up the series if enough people are already buying it and may get Prime Video just to watch the series in the future.
Note: The 30 shows in danger of cancellation has been updated to reflect the current cancellation news.
