Amazon Prime Originals have led the way in SAG Awards nominations, after already receiving love at the Golden Globes. It’s more proof that streaming is the way to go.
After the success for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel at the Emmys earlier this year, it wasn’t too surprising to see the show get love from the Golden Globe nominations this month. That love for the show and Amazon has continued with the SAG Awards.
And it’s not just the period comedy that has landed affection from both award bodies. Homecoming gained plenty of attention in the list of Golden Globes nominations, while Jack Ryan has been the show to get the love at the SAG Awards.

It shows that Prime Originals and streaming are the way to go. They’re starting to take over network TV when it comes to award-nominated and -winning dramas and comedies. After all, Amazon isn’t the only streaming service getting plenty of love. Hulu and Netflix have made it to the list with the likes of The Handmaid’s Tale, Ozark, and GLOW.
While The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Homecoming (along with cast members like Rachel Brosnahan, Alex Borstein, and Julia Roberts) gained multiple nominations for the Golden Globes, the SAG awards see The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Jack Ryan leading the way. Brosnahan and Borstein are going up against each other for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series with Tony Shaloub rightfully landing a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.
Meanwhile, Jack Ryan has landed a stunts nomination at the SAG Awards, with John Krasinski landing a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. He was left out in the cold when it came to the Golden Globes, so it’s good to see the love right now.
The two categories are going to be tough. Krasinski is up against the likes of Jason Bateman for Ozark and Sterling K. Brown for This Is Us. Meanwhile, Shaloub is up against Bill Hader, Michael Douglas, and Henry Winkler. When it came to the Emmys, Winkley beat Shaloub to the award, but will things change for the SAG Awards?
Whatever the results, it’s an honor for all to be nominated. And the awards are well-deserved.
