Amazon’s anthology series Modern Love lands all-star cast
Amazon Studio’s latest anthology Prime Original Modern Love has landed its all-star cast. Tina Fey, Anne Hathaway, and Dev Patel are among the stars joining the anthology love series.
Modern Love is the latest anthology series ordered by Amazon Studios. John Carney will bring eight standalone episodes that explore love in its many forms. The straight-to-series show has now landed an all-star cast, including Tina Fey, Anne Hathaway, and Dev Patel.
Based on the popular New York Times column all about human connection and love, the half-hour romantic comedy series is the latest show to come to Amazon Prime. It looks like the network has enjoyed success with the anthology set up. It certainly has its benefits, including the ability to tell multiple different stories and not need to worry too much if a key star decides to walk away.

The anthology setup also allows for shows to land big-name stars without la ong-term commitment. This certainly shows with Modern Love landing the likes of Anne Hathaway, Tina Fey, Dev Patel, Andy Garcia, Cristin Milioti, and John Slattery.
John Carney will write, direct, and produce the series. The eight episodes will look at the different forms of love, including romantic, familial, sexual, and platonic. Even self-love will be included in an episode.
Very little is known about the characters and episodes the new stars will be in. However, Deadline reports that Fey and Slattery will be in the same episode, which will be written and directed by Sharon Hogan. Tom Hall is director and writer on one of the episodes and Shameless‘ Emmy Rossum will direct an episode written by The Hate U Give‘s Audry Wells.
Worried about the connection to the New York Times column? There’s no need to be. Like Lore‘s Aaron Mahnke consults on the series based on his podcast, Modern Love column editor Daniel Jones will consult on this series.
