Did you know Gale Anne Hurd and the other EPs had auditions for a new showrunner for Lore Season 2? Learn more about that and more in the interview with her and Sean Crouch.

Not long after Lore Season 2 was announced, Glen Morgan stepped down as showrunner. That meant a new showrunner was brought in and the show took a slightly different direction. Sean Crouch was the man to take over, and he and EP Gale Anne Hurd discuss that change and what it means for the series.

Overall, it’s a positive change. Nobody can take away what Morgan brought to the series, but Crouch came directly off The Exorcist (which I still say was unfairly treated and canceled). Having such a horror-focused mind is excellent for the storytelling in a show like Lore.

During the interview, Hurd shared that there were auditions for the role of new showrunner. She wanted someone who oozed a love for horror, something that definitely isn’t easy to fake. There will be people who say they like horror because it’s the in thing, but she needed someone who had a definite passion, which is just what Crouch brings to the table.

Crouch also shared what he’d decided to pitch to Hurd and the team. He came in with the idea of Black Mirror if it was real. We won’t find out until Friday if it’s worked, but there are a lot of high hopes!

The stories for this season are smaller in terms of set and effects. These are all character based, whether you’re intrigued in the tale of Elizabeth Bathory or can’t wait to learn about Jack Parsons. However, Amazon spent more money on the season. That money allowed for a bigger production value, so in a sense, it’s going to feel different and bigger to the first season.

Just listening to the two talk and hearing that at the Lore panel at NYCC, I feel a lot of buzz for this season. There’s a lot of excitement about it from the EPs and showrunner and that always means it should be good TV.
