As you would expect from a Spanish series, it is in spoken Spanish with English subtitles available. Variety reported in March that the series would follow three football (or soccer as we call it here) players, Saúl Ñíguez, Iñaki Williams, and Andrés Guardado. Coaches Eduardo Berrizo and Quique Carcel are also involved, along with the female president of Eibar, Amaia Gorostiza. Six people for six dreams.
The series isn’t going to offer much in the way of commentary but more “structured narrative.” Each episode is an hour long, focusing on stories from the people involved about Spain’s football scene.
Worried about too much soccer? Amazon Studios has already thought of that. This isn’t just a load of soccer games on the screen. There are people who may be interested in the documentary format but not the sport, so there is going to be a mixture. If you enjoyed the series about the UK’s football club Manchester City, Six Dreams will be for you.
One big question is why the big Spanish teams haven’t been included? This series isn’t about the big teams but about the growing La Liga. However, the big teams may be included if there is a second season.
