Amazon orders Hanna TV series starring Joel Kinnaman and Mireille Enos

A TV series based on the film Hanna and starring Joel Kinnaman, Mireille Enos and Esme Creed-Miles is coming to Amazon.
Amazon ordered a new TV series based on the 2011 film Hanna, according to a report from Deadline. The straight-to-series order is a huge step for the streaming network as they move away from their pilot season, which was used to test audience interaction before Amazon ordered a new TV series.
Amazon’s Hanna, which sounds very similar to the film of the same name, tells the story of a girl with extraordinary abilities on the run from CIA agents and other intelligence officers who are trying to capture her. David Farr wrote the screenplay for the film, and he also wrote the Amazon original series. Deadline is reporting Sarah Alina Smith will direct the Amazon series.
This is a huge move for Amazon, and it sounds like this could be a big series for the streaming service. Hanna will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
According to Deadline, Esme Creed-Miles will star in the series as Hanna. She’ll be joined by Joel Kinnaman and Mireille Enos, according to the report. The Amazon original series reunited Kinnaman and Enos, who starred together in The Killing, which is available to stream on Netflix.

Kinnaman recently starred in the Netflix original series Altered Carbon, which has been a huge hit. His acting stock seems to be going up, so this is a good grab by Amazon. Enos has also starred in some great movies, including World War Z.
Outside of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Amazon has been whiffing on their TV shows lately. It will be interesting to see how this series goes for the streaming network as they spend more on original content with the new Lord of the Rings series and other projects.
