Nintendo announced the SNES Classic system on Monday morning and everyone went wild, but will you be able to preorder one?

First off, we just want to say good luck on getting your hands on the newly announced the Nintendo SNES Classic system because you’re going to need it. The gaming console was officially announced on Monday morning, and if history is any indication, the SNES Classic system will definitely sell out quickly.

Months after the NES Classic system, the previous Nintendo Classic system, hit shelves for a very brief time and disappeared even quicker from online retailers, Nintendo is preparing to launch their newest mini system.

The SNES Classic launch is scheduled for September 29, and the Nintendo SNES Classic will likely be another tough system to purchase due to the high demand. According to Kotaku, Nintendo has already announced they would produce more quantities of the system than they had for the NES Classic, but we don’t exactly know how much.

The NES Classic quickly sold out at retail stores and online marketplaces, including Amazon. Once it went up online, it was almost instantly gone.

More from Amazon

It’s expected to be that way for the September release of the SNES, leaving you with limited options on how to get one. Amazon will likely have some in stock on release date, but it’s going to be a hassle to secure one because a pre-order date has not been announced for the U.S. version but there is a placeholder on Amazon.

Our friends over at Nintendo Wire discovered a placeholder for the upcoming system on Amazon, BUT it is not live yet. A placeholder could mean a pre-order is coming, depending on what Amazon decides to do. It could also just be for launch day.

Many are wondering if Amazon will have the SNES available for pre-order, and the short answer is we don’t know yet. In the past, Amazon has made games and consoles available to pre-order, and they do so at random times. Amazon could list the SNES available for pre-order at any time, so you’ll be on the ball to snag one.

There’s also a chance Nintendo stops all pre-orders, like they did with the NES Classic system.  That would be slightly problematic because everybody would be competing for a system once again.

You can sign up for email notifications for the SNES Classic system on Amazon, so as soon as any of the information changes, Amazon lets you know it’s ready to order or pre-order, depending on when that change happens.

Just hours after the official announcement, someone discovered a landing page to pre-order the SNES Classic listed on the Amazon UK storefront for £79.99 ($101.76). There were people lucky enough to grab a pre-order, even from the states, although it says it will not ship to the U.S. That pages now says it is unavailable.

Is there a chance a pre-order could happen in the future? It’s possible, and it could happen any day. Keep checking back with Amazon Advisor to make sure you can get your hands on one of these new systems!
