It’s the time everyone has been waiting for. Baby Yoda is back. That is The Mandalorian Season 2 has premiered, but can you watch it on Amazon Prime Video?
This question is understandable. A lot of TV shows come to Amazon Prime Video. And if they’re not available for free, there’s often the ability to watch them through one of the Amazon Channels. Then there’s the ability to buy TV shows digitally through Amazon Video.
Are any of these options open?
That’s a resounding no on all fronts.

Sorry, everyone, but The Mandalorian is not on Amazon Prime Video. You’re not going to get it on digital and it’s not on DVD and Blu-ray. There is only one place to watch the Star Wars series: Disney Plus.
The series is exclusive to the Disney streaming service. You can watch it with a subscription (and there is a 30-day free trial). One season is already available and Season 2 will air weekly.
Disney Plus isn’t available as one of the Amazon Channels. This could change in the future, but the decision is usually financially based. Disney hasn’t had a problem with getting people to subscribe directly!
Will the Star Wars series ever come to Amazon Prime Video?
What are the chances of things changing? While I do say never say never, it’s extremely unlikely that The Mandalorian will ever come to Amazon Prime Video. It’s all about exclusivity for subscribers.
Disney Plus has a lot to fight against in the streaming wars. Netflix remains No. 1 and Amazon Prime Video and Hulu tend to take up second and third places. There are just so many streaming services now that it’s important for all to keep content exclusive to encourage sign-ups.
There’s no need for Disney to ever make this series available on Amazon Prime Video unless it somehow goes bankrupt and shuts down. People are subscribing to watch the Star Wars series.
