28 Days Later

We start with a horror movie, and arguably the best zombie horror movie ever made. 28 Days Later is one of those movies that has you on the edge of your seat. You find yourself rooting for some unlikely characters, and it feels like something that could genuinely happen for one, adding a layer of reality that so few of these types of movies offer.

While it’s not on Prime Video, you’ll want to follow on with 28 Weeks Later, which continues the theme of a zombie apocalypse that could happen.

28 Days Later is available on Amazon Prime Video on Nov. 1.

Platoon

We go from a zombie horror to a wartime horror movie. Well, Platoon isn’t technically a horror movie, but it certainly becomes one as you think about the darkness of it. This is a movie about life and struggle. It focuses on a platoon of American soldiers who patrol and fight in the Vietnam war. Not everyone is going to make it out alive, and some by their own hand.

It was one of the masterpieces of its time, and it still holds true today. Now is the chance to watch it again, or even see what the fuss is about if you haven’t seen it yet. You will get Adagio for Strings stuck in your head after it.

Platoon is one of the must-see movies on Amazon on Nov. 1.

The Dictator

Need something on the funny side? You will do after 28 Days Later and Platoon. Sasha Baron Cohen has your back, and not with BoratThe Dictator is one of the must-see movies on Amazon in November 2020.

Just like Borat and Bruno, the movie is an over-the-top, satirical comedy. Sasha Baron Cohen plays a brutal dictator who travels to New York to address the UN Security Council. Things go wrong, leading to him being switched for an imposter. Now he needs to get back to his position of power, but will he see the error of his ways instead?

The Dictator is available to stream on Nov. 14.

Uncle Frank

We’re onto the only Amazon Original on the list. That’s not because the other Amazon Originals aren’t worthy. It’s because most of the originals this month are TV shows.

Uncle Frank is about a gay literature professor who returns home for his father’s funeral. His teenage niece accompanies him for the trip. It’s a heartfelt movie about discovering yourself and being honest deep down. There are certainly moments that will make you cry, so grab the box of tissues.

Uncle Frank is available on Prime on Nov. 25.

Bombshell

Finally, it’s all about Bombshell. While it received some mixed reviews, this is one of those movies you really need to watch for yourself. Make your own mind up about it.

It’s a provocative and controversial movie, shedding more light on the reasons behind the #MeToo movement. Nicole Kidnam, Charlize Theron, and Margot Robbie are three determined and ambitious young women at one of America’s biggest networks. They’re willing to risk it all for equality.
