Will Lovecraft Country be renewed for a second season by HBO?

If there’s one thing we need, it’s another season of Lovecraft Country. Will the horror series be renewed by HBO?

Something that is surprising is that the series hasn’t been renewed yet. HBO hasn’t made a decision, despite the rave reviews for this 1950s-set show. That’s especially disappointing when the premium cable network knew exactly how the season was going to end.

The first season took us on a major journey. At first, we had no idea where the story was taking us, but then by the midpoint, we got all these connections to real history, there were clear story threads happening, and we got excellent development for supporting characters. We need more of this for definitely.

What are the chances of Lovecraft Country Season 2 happening?

Don’t be alarmed when you love at the live TV ratings for the series. TV Series Finale has the Neilsen ratings, but they do look low compared to the broadcast networks. That’s everything to do with the fact that lots of people watch HBO shows directly through an app, whether it’s the HBO app or through Amazon Channels or Hulu Channels. Neilsen doesn’t count those viewers (but they do count for the series).

The series isn’t up there with the likes of Game of Thrones, Barry, and True Detective, but that’s nothing to be concerned about. It’s in the Top 10 on the network.

Ratings don’t mean everything, anyway. It’s whether there is a story there. Watchmen performed well in the ratings, but it didn’t get picked up for a second season. That’s because the creator of the series didn’t want to do a second season. There wasn’t the story there.

That’s not the case for Lovecraft Country. Not all stories in the collection of short stories have been used. There’s plenty of source material to adapt, and there is a lot of call for more shows like this.

There’s very little reason not to renew Lovecraft Country for a second season.
