When could Upload Season 2 potentially premiere on Amazon Prime Video?

We learned from Robbie Amell that Upload Season 2 won’t start filming for a while. What does this mean for a potential premiere date on Amazon Prime Video?

Amell shared that filming of the second season is expected to start in Vancouver in January 2021. Writing is still underway, and there’s no need to worry about that. However, a delay in filming will mean a delay in a premiere date.

More from Amazon Originals

Most Amazon Originals take 14-18 months between seasons. There are some that take a little less time like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and then there are others that can take longer like The Man in the High Castle. However, for the most part, we have to wait 14 to 18 months between seasons.

If filming could have started as normal, we’d have likely been looking at July 2021 as the earliest premiere date. November 2021 could have been the later date.

We could be looking at a 2022 premiere

It can take nine months for a show to film. That’s not including the pre- and post-production work. It often takes the 14 months minimum just to get through everything!

With a January 2021 filming start, we’re probably looking at a January 2022 premiere date for Upload Season 2 at the earliest. If it does happen to come earlier than great, but I’m not expecting to hear anything until the beginning of 2022. There are a lot of VFX to add into the digital world, so it could push it back to May 2022, marking two years since the first season dropped.

This is a show that’s worth the wait. It’s a passion project for Greg Daniels and is worth going through the exact amount of time it will take to create. We can be patient and not entitled, right?
