Amazon Studios lands movie Shelly with Jumanji: The Next Level duo
Shelly is the latest movie added to Amazon Studios’s list of acquisitions
Amazon Studios is adding another movie acquisition to its list. Shelly is going to come to Amazon Prime Video at some point in the future.
Shelly is an action-comedy starring Jumanji: The Next Level‘s Awkwafina and Karen Gillan. There’s no doubt you want to watch these two together if you’ve watched the Jumanji reboot sequel. Jude Weng is to direct with Michael Doneger and Liz Storm providing the script.

The movie has been in the works for some time. Deadline reported about it in June, when the shopping of it first started.
While the movie has been picked up, Amazon Studios plans to make deals with both actresses. Will this mean future projects on Amazon Prime Video with the two of them? We’ll have to wait and see, but I certainly wouldn’t complain if that’s the case!
What is Shelly about?
Awkwafina will star as Shelly Wheeler in the movie, who still relives the horrors of an embarrassing prom prank. She’d been ran out of town because of it, and now she’s become an ice-cold hitwoman.
Her next target is Gillan’s Dianna Park, who happens to be the high school tormentor, who planned the prank in the first place. This is no longer a job for Shelly. It’s a chance to get revenge.
The problem is, this is decades later. Everyone has changed. Dianna and Shelly actually befriend each other and Shelly becomes part of the cool crowd. Now she feels the need to protect her former bully, but that will mean a hit taken out on both of them.
