What’s coming to Amazon Prime Video this weekend? [Aug. 22-23]
What shows and movies can you watch on Amazon Prime Video this weekend?
The weekend is a good time to catch up on anything you’ve missed on streaming services. Amazon Prime Video doesn’t have that much new this weekend, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to watch.
Amazon is pushing many of its releases to the week lately. The last week saw some good movies and shows join the streaming service, with Chemical Hearts as the biggest release. The new Amazon Original movie is available to stream right now.

When it comes to during the weekend, only The Legion is joining the streaming service.
The 2020 movie focuses on the invasion of Parthia. The weather in the Armenian mountains brings two Roman legions to a standstill. They’re at risk of freezing to death and the rest of the army is still two weeks away. When Parthian patrols swamp the Romans, they need to trust a half-Roman soldier to survive.
What to watch on Amazon Channels this weekend
While there isn’t much for free on Amazon Prime Video, you can turn to Amazon Channels. HBO and STARZ tend to get the bulk of the movie releases now.
HBO has the release of Queen and Slim from 2019. The movie is extremely poignant right now, focusing on a traffic stop gone wrong. When a white policeman pulls over a Black couple on a date, things get out of hand. Slim shoots the police in self-defense, but he’s quickly labeled a cop killer. It’s only when footage goes viral that Slim’s name is clear, and he and Queen become symbols of trauma, grief, and pain.
If you want a satire, you’ll need to turn to STARZ. Greed will stream this weekend, telling the story of Sir Richard McCreadie, a self-made British billionaire. When his retail empire is in crisis and his public image is damaged, he needs to figure out a way to repair things. What could possibly go wrong with an extravagant party to celebrate his 60th birthday?
