Absentia Season 3, Episode 7 recap: [Spoiler] dies in devastating twist
We said goodbye to a character on Absentia Season 3, Episode 7
What a ride we’ve been taken on so far during Absentia Season 3. Episode 7 was no different, leaving us guessing to the end whether Emily would catch up with Nick in time.
Sadly, the episode meant we said goodbye to a promising character as the FBI continued to figure out who the mole was. Meanwhile, more of Cal’s secrets came out with Emily struggling with who to trust.
Here’s a breakdown of the events from Liberavit.
Learning Nick’s location
While searching around the compound, Emily and Cal found a room full of bodies. There was some good news: Nick wasn’t there.

When the burned nurse turns up, Emily uses it as a chance to get some information. However, the nurse has no idea where Nick has been taken, and she has to take a call from Jericho. Emily allows it, especially seeing that a physical phone number shows up on the screen. She decides to make her own call to Jericho offering the files for Nick’s life.
First, she needs proof of life, which Jericho offers. However, they all realize that it wasn’t Nick in whatever secret facility he was supposed to be sent to. That likely means this poor soul is going to be killed, but it gives Emily a little hope. There’s a chance she can find Nick before Jericho does.
Nick has the opportunity to escape
There’s a little hope for Nick, too, on Absentia Season 3, Episode 7. He manages to get free from his binds and escapes from the moving truth. However, the people driving the truck realize that he’s escaped and follow him into the woods.
Nick manages to avoid them, which is when he comes across a group of Syrian refugees. They were on their way to Germany when their parents were taken by the soldiers that were after Nick. Jericho has been doing something to refugees who wouldn’t really go missing, and the local police force is working with the group.
Needing to get a call to Emily, Nick arranges for the kids to take him to a cabin. There’s a phone in there. He calls Emily, but it goes straight to answerphone. So, he decides to call his own desk, where Agent Thompson is sat opposite while working late to look for the mole.
Thompson answers the phone and takes down Nick’s location just as Nick is interrupted by the person who lives there. The person calls the police and Nick has no choice but to be taken back into custody.
Meanwhile, Thompson is about to get the information to her superiors when someone shows up at the office. We don’t see who it is, but considering Thompson later turns up dead, it’s likely that it’s the mole. This is someone Thompson recognized, but it doesn’t seem like it’s Gunnarson or Crowne. Who in the office could it be?
Crowne notes (when he finds her body) that the paper files he instructed her to keep on her have gone missing. The mole knows the FBI is onto them.
It’s a shame that this happened. Thompson was promising. She was quirky but loyal. It would have been great to see what she could have done teamed up with Emily or Nick.
Emily struggles to trust
It’s not really surprising that Emily is struggling with the trust aspect. After everything she’s been through, it’s hard to tell who is telling the truth and who isn’t. That’s why when she notices that a soldier at the compound has the exact same tattoo as Cal, she starts to question whether she can trust him or not.
Cal says that the tattoo was the one for their squadron. It also turns out that his chief, the one who ordered him to kill the kid during the previous episode, is working for Meridian. Naturally, Emily starts to worry about what this means, especially when she sees that Cal is sending messages to Gunnarson about having Emily.
She doesn’t have time to question everything, so she leaves Cal at the side of the road and drives in a stolen car to get to Nick’s location. Just as it looks like Nick is being sent back to be tortured, Emily flips the truck and gets to her ex-husband. The emotion from him as he realized Emily got to him was raw and heartbreaking, but they’re together now. It’s time to get Nick back to the USA.
