Amazon Prime, SXSW team up to bring 39 movies for a limited time starting next week

While it’s not the same, Amazon Prime has teamed up with some of the creatives who would premiere movies at SXSW to bring 39 of the movies to viewers.

Those who were looking forward to SXSW 2020 were understandably disappointed with the decision to cancel the con. However, Amazon Prime is teaming up with some of the creatives who were going to premiere movies at the event. They’re going to be available for free for a limited time on Amazon.

You won’t need to sign up for Amazon Prime to check out the movies. All 39 movies will be in front of the paywall. All you’ll need is an Amazon account (which is free) and be in the U.S. It all starts from April 27 and will end on May 6.

Of course, one of the shows that was going to premiere is already on Amazon Prime Video. Tales from the Loop was going to get an exclusive outing during the March event, but at least one episode will be made available for free during the limited-time event. Upload was the other show heading to SXSW, which will be available in full to stream on Prime Video from May 1. There are no signs of it being available to watch for free, but Amazon could surprise us.

Instead, Amazon will bring documentary features, some episodic titles, and short films. There are movies and shows from all over the world, some of which have already premiered but will be available for free for a short time.
