If employees have the ability to work from home to do their jobs, Amazon wants that to happen. It’s all part of preventing the spread of coronavirus.

In an attempt to prevent the spread of coronavirus, more and more businesses are encouraging members of staff to work from home. That’s something Amazon is now encouraging for all those who have the ability to do it.

Of course, a business like Amazon doesn’t make it possible for all to work from home. CNBC reports that while the office staff does have that option, those who work in the fulfillment centers and those who are delivery drivers need to be in public. However, if as many as possible do work from home, it helps to minimize the spread of the disease.

More from Amazon

The news comes with Amazon Studios also recently issuing a work from home mandate. This is going to be in place until the end of March, with as many production companies keeping their employees at home as much as possible.

So far, only Carnival Row and A Wheel of Time are among the TV shows that have shut down production due to coronavirus. That was linked more due to President Trump’s address about flights from European countries than the threat of the illness spreading among the employees. However, with more production companies shutting down, it’s possible that more Amazon shows and movies will also follow.

On top of that, there’s the upcoming writer’s strike. This won’t likely affect the streamers, but will have a big impact on linear television. There’s a chance the current writer’s contract will be extended to help mitigate issues faced with the coronavirus.

What about those financially hit? Among the Amazon employees, those who test positive for COVID-19 will receive up to two weeks of full pay while they are quarantined. All hourly employees will continue to be paid, although there will be unlimited unpaid options also available.

It’s all a positive step to contain the virus and minimize the spread.
