Will Locke and Key come to DVD and Blu-ray?
Locke and Key is the latest hit series from Netflix. Will fans be able to own the series on DVD and Blu-ray? Could it follow the likes of Lucifer and more?
Netflix is on a role with supernatural horrors. The latest is Locke and Key, which debuted on the service during February 2020. Now fans of the series want to know if they’ll be able to own Locke and Key Season 1 on DVD and Blu-ray.
It’s hard to say with Netflix Originals. Some of them certainly do make it to DVD but others don’t. Fuller House, The Kominsky Method, and even The Crown have made it to DVD and Blu-ray in the past. Just recently, we’ve had the release date for Lucifer Season 4 on DVD. Yet, there are plenty of others that don’t have a release date or any inclination that they will head to home video.

This isn’t all that surprising. Netflix is going to want to keep as much content as possible exclusive to the site. This is especially the case now with multiple other streaming services being developed, such as Disney Plus, Apple TV+, and the upcoming WarnerMedia site, HBO Max.
There’s a high chance that Locke and Key Season 1 won’t become available on DVD and Blu-ray. Keeping it just on the service will mean that fans need to keep a subscription to rewatch.
However, something that works in Locks and Key‘s favor is the production company. IDW Entertainment is behind the series, and Wynonna Earp fans will be familiar with this production studio. There have been some serious financial problems in recent years. DVD and Blu-ray sales would possibly help the company, so there could be a push for the home video release.
Either way, this is a supernatural horror that you need to check out, whether you’ve read the original comic books or not. If it does come to DVD, we’re looking at February 2021 at the earliest.
