Amazon Prime Video is bringing another thrilling book series to life. Jack Reacher is getting the Amazon Original treatment, and here’s all we know.

During the winter TCAs, Amazon made some exciting announcements about projects. One of those is a Jack Reacher series based on the popular books from Lee Child.

With the success of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, it isn’t all that surprising that another book series is being adapted. It’s also another series that has been developed into an excellent movie series and benefits from character-driven stories.

What do we know about the series so far? Not very much, but we’ll break down the release.

From the same studios as Jack Ryan

Like Jack Ryan, starring John Krasinski, the new Jack Reacher series will be produced by Paramount Television Studios and Skydance Television. With the same studios behind the production, it helps to add some consistency to the development. They know the budget needed to create compelling storytelling.

More from Amazon Originals

Nick Santora will be the executive producer and showrunner. He’s also writing the series, according to the Deadline report. This is the man behind Prison Break and Scorpion, so we know that he understands these types of worlds and slowly sharing information.

Lee Child, Scott Sullivan, Don Granger, Christopher McQuarrie, Dana Goldberg, March Ross, and David Ellison are also among the executive producers for the series. Skydance’s Carolyn Harris will oversee the show.

Which Lee Child novels?

The first season will be based on Lee Child’s first Jack Reacher novel, The Killing Floor. This was the first novel in the series, introducing the character, so a very good place to start.

However, there are prequels to this novel, written after this one. It’s not clear whether the prequels will be used for any flashback sequences.

The Killing Floor sees Jack head to Margrave, Georgia and quickly arrested for murder. That murder victim is his brother, and he quickly needs to figure out how to clear his name of a crime he definitely couldn’t have committed, while finding the real murderer.

When will we get it?

So far, we don’t have a release date. Jack Reacher has reportedly been in the works for the last year, but the fun is only just getting started. There’s been no casting as of yet. We’re likely looking at 2021 for the series.

The series will be released across the globe through Amazon Prime Video when it does come to the service. If it’s anything like Jack Ryan and most other Amazon Originals, we’re looking at 8-10 episodes for the series.
