10 best new Amazon shows in 2019
2019 saw the arrival of many Amazon Originals, including completely new shows. Which 10 stand out the most? Here are my top 10 picks of the year.
2020 is only just getting started. There’s a lot to live up to when you look back over 2019. That was a year of some excellent TV, whether we were introduced to new universes or said goodbye to some of our favorites. When it comes to new Amazon Originals, there were plenty that stand out as excellent.

This was the year that Amazon started to branch out and take a few risks. There were some excellent decisions when it came to greenlighting projects.
For this list, we’re only looking at new Amazon Originals that debuted between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31. That means new seasons of current shows don’t get counted.
I could technically count The Expanse, but I’m not going to. While it was new as a Prime Original series, it wasn’t a new series overall. The showrunners and actors remained the same, which meant it didn’t feel like it was something completely new; it just has a home that has already offered some excellent promotion and renewed it for another season.
