Will Dark Waters be available to stream on Amazon Prime?

Mark Ruffalo and Anne Hathway star in Todd Haynes’ new legal thriller, Dark Waters. The film follows the story of a real-life attorney that threatened to topple the empire of a massive company who knowingly poisoned thousands of people by dumping deadly chemicals into their water supply.

The movie will likely be a frontrunner in the impending awards season thanks to its excellent acting, writing, and pacing. But for those of you that don’t enjoy going to the theater, or simply want to rewatch the film, you might be wondering when and if the film will eventually stream for free on Amazon Prime Video.

Dark Waters is a Focus Features film, which means it will probably stream on HBO. Previous movies from the production company like Mary Queen of Scots, Boy Erased, and Greta are all now available to stream on HBO.

The good news is, you can sign up for HBO movies through Amazon Video Channels. But you’ll probably be waiting at least six to seven months for Dark Waters to make the transition to HBO. That means it will probably not be available until May or June of next year.

Outside of Mark Ruffalo and Anne Hathaway, Dark Waters also stars Bill Pullman, Victor Garber, Tim Robbins, Bill Camp, and Mare Winningham. If you’re interested in learning more about the real story behind the film, it’s based on an article from the 2016 New York Times written by Nathaniel Rich titled  “The Lawyer Who Became DuPont’s Worst Nightmare.”
