Modern Love

  • Directed by: John Carney

Modern Love is a new series about well, love. The series is based on a popular weekly column of the same name that runs in The New York Times. It consists of eight episodes in total for its first season and stars a bevy of talent.

Along with the names we mentioned above, the series also stars John Slattery, Brandon Victor Dixon, Catherine Keener, Julia Garner, Andy García, Olivia Cooke, Andrew Scott, Shea Whigham, Sofia Boutella, John Gallagher Jr. and more.

It appears Amazon is trying their luck with anthologies against after last year’s dud, The Romanoffs. Hopefully, they’ll have better luck with this sweet romantic comedy. It won’t just take a look at romantic love but also familial, paternal, platonic, and beyond.

Kill Chain (2019)

  • Directed by: Ken Sanzel
  • Starring: Nicolas Cage, Ryan Kwanten, Angie Cepeda, and Anabelle Acosta

Kill Chain has flown mostly under the radar. Odds are you haven’t heard of it, it doesn’t even have its own Wikipedia page! That said, Nicolas Cage stars and it looks like a fun, fast-paced noir thriller.

The movie’s plot is very succinct, merely describing the film as one where a group of strangers find their lives connected in a surprising way as they become part of a conflict they were never prepared for.

Watchmen: Series Premiere

  • Created by: Damon Lindelof
  • Starring: Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Jessica Camacho, Jeremy Irons, Jean Smart, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, and James Wolk
  • Premieres: Sunday, Oct. 20 on HBO

Watchmen is based loosely on the DC Comics series of the same name written by Alan Moore and Dan Gibbons. The series is being created, written, and directed by Damon Lindelof whose former television credits include LOST and The Leftovers.

The new show is highly-anticipated by fans of the comic series. It will take place in an alternate reality. Superheroes and vigilantes have been outlawed but a new group has risen. The show will tell an entirely new “remixed” story set within the Watchmen universe.
