Star of The Big Bang Theory joins upcoming Amazon musical Annette

Simon Helberg of The Big Bang Theory fame has joined Marion Cotillard and Adam Driver in Amazon’s upcoming musical romance, Annette.

If you’re a fan of DC comics, The Big Bang Theory, and/or Star Wars, then you’ll probably be pleased by the cast of Amazon’s upcoming romantic musical film, Annette. Deadline recently announced that Simon Helberg would be joining the cast alongside Marion Cotillard and Adam Driver.

The movie will follow a stand-up comedian (played by Driver) and a modern opera singer (Cotillard). Everyone will perform their own singing. Filming is currently underway. Leos Carax will direct the movie. He previously directed the notable film, Holy Motors.

It’ll be interesting to hear Adam Driver sing in a full-on musical film. We’ve heard his voice in some of his other projects but never in a full-length musical, to my knowledge.

As for Helberg, this isn’t his first foray into the musical world. He was also involved in the Meryl Streep vehicle, Florence Foster Jenkins. As for his role in this movie, Deadline simply lists it as “The Conductor.”

Based on what we know about Cotillard’s role, I’m assuming that Helberg may have something to do with her character and storyline. Perhaps he works with her at the opera.

Sparks, the United States rock band, originated the story. The musical was intended to be a new album from the band. They also composed Anette’s musical numbers and scripted the film. Annette will also involve Marius de Vries as executive music producer.

If that name sounds familiar at all it may be due to his notoriety in the film world. He also worked on hit films like La La Land and the recent Bohemian Rhapsody.

Amazon is set to distribute the movie in the United States but not internationally.
