There’s a new fantasy series in town. Carnival Row is now on Amazon Prime Video and could be as big as Game of Thrones became. The Amazon Original has landed on the list of 50 best TV shows on Prime, but why does it belong?

Now for why it’s on the list. Why wouldn’t it be on the list? From the very first episode, Carnival Row had people hooked. In fact, it drew people in from the trailers alone, leading to Amazon renewing the series ahead of the show being released.

While there are multiple storylines going on throughout the series, they all intertwine in some sort of way for the most part. The biggest is the storyline involving the chancellor and his family and the murders happening around the Burgue. I’ll leave all the spoilers there, allowing you to check out who the murderer is if you want to know.
This is a series with immense world development, making us wonder more about the fae, their homelands, and more. We get a look at some of the war in Vignette’s homeland but not so much that makes it impossible to return to the past. Then there are many other parts of the magical world to explore in the second season.

Character development doesn’t suffer from the world development, either. There’s a beautiful romantic tale between the leads, but the supporting cast gets plenty of time to show us their pasts, their presents, and their hopes for the future. We get to see bonds form, break, and more.
